Last day in Tahiti
One of Cooks anchors. At least that’s what they say.
These photos are a mess because that is how I do things. We were able to visit the reopened Polynesian museum, it opened a day ago after being closed for 3 years. It was very interesting especially with the new info on the early migrations of the Polynesians studied throughDNA.

A drill and one of Cook’s anchors is on exhibit and it looked a lot like this archaic drill, savvy handy men. These photos are a mess because that is how I do things. This is one of the many little churches here and the tribes just rolled over to the christian sects, Jehovah witnesses, Seventh Adventists, Catholics, Mormons, you name it the missionaries did their job well.
Just relaxing in the morning because our flight today leaves at 2:45 in the morning. White night.
I liked the two people holding hands with the dog. Very generous and loving people when they were not eating their enemies. “Mana” is a name for personal dignity and the more you have of it the more you are revered. When you eat your enemy you ingest their mana and get more of it. At least that is what I understood.
These are sorts of totems they had on their outriggers. Just a model. Wonderful woodwork!
This is a chest ornament of a Aai or royalty made of cock feathers dog hair and sharks teeth. In polynesian thought a tiny portion of something indicates the whole. Makes me think of how we can have the whole of an individual by knowing it’s dna make up.
A woman selling “leis” at the airport. And here is a small sculpture I liked.
This is a photo of our hosts in the south of the island, Christian of Chris Merry’s villa. They were a wealth of information, near Vaima a spring on the south coastline
He is part Tahitian and part Breton and she is from La Reunion.
