Tasman Nat. Park and Maria Is.
This will be the third time I try to put text to these photos so ignore my frustration. 😖
These photos are not in order but I can tell you what we did and you can find the photo that corresponds.
We decided to rent a nice airbnb with a beach view that was spectacular. i just wanted to sit and watch the water for 3 days but we are travelers and curiosity got the better of us.
We went to hike on these magnificent cliffs, Cape Hawys. Lots of steps to the top but we did see some lizards and gannets off the coast. It was in Tasman National Park and we swam in the crystal waters of Forescue Bay.
We ate some great oysters that night that are cultivated near this airbnb at Dodges ferry.
The next day we went to Maria Island by ferry. It is a island filled with wildlife that replaced the prisoners that were there in the late 19th cen.
There are here some photos of the painted cliffs there. Sandstone eroded by water and wind. The beaches here had many smaller objects on them that I photographed. A small house housed a woman that had the only radio on the island. From her window you would swear you were in a Wyeth painting. I found a hat blow away off of someone’s head that also evoked ”Christina’s world”.
The wallaby’s, kangaroos and the wombats made this place enchanting. Mark Twain describes these islands where nature met hardened prisoners a “place where heaven meets hell”.
Cape Hawys.
The steps that are cut into the rock.
Our airbnb.
