Trade winds
The winds are coming from the north which, here, denotes hot humid weather. This is Moorea under the clouds.
I love the simple interiors that are suited to the climate. They don’t use glass in windows but have fiberglass translucent screens that slide like shoji screens the japanese use. Woven palm fronds make the wallpaper and the roof covers the walls but is elevated to let the air circulate. The roof here is shingles and the artwork is made on tapa, a barkcloth made from mulberry or breadfruit bark.
These birds, on the bimini are all facing into the wind.
These are some 8 person outriggers. They look like samurai swords.
This looks like a sea perch. I noticed some people with a net pulling in fish and one person with a snorkel choosing the fish to keep.
I don’t know what these are but they will all be eaten.
Here they are with the net and snorkler.

Another way of fishing we saw was to take your boat out at night to the “pass” a break in the reef and fish for flying fish. The fisherman wears a bright light that he shines on the water and the flying fish jump out and he catches them like catching butterflies.
