Tooling around Dehli
Dehli has some nice little neighborhoods but you must choose them wisely. We had till 4pm when we had to be at the airport and it was sunday so we did like the Delhi’s do.
First we went to the Lotus temple, Ba hai temple built in 1986. The faith is very tolerant and benevolent, Establishing schools and social aide to the very poor. Very often their temples throughout the world are based on a lotus form. Bab originated in Persia amd at 25 founded this faith with his writings. He was imprisoned as a heretic and died 8 years later. So he didn’t spend much time on this earth but his followers did the rest of the work even though they too were persecuted. Soghi Effemdi was one that took over the faith and developed it for 60 years. He fled Persia and ended up in Haifa in Israel.
it reminds me of Sydney
Massive numbers of hindous visit the temple as well as muslims. We were herded through the temple I’m not sure if they have a ritual or mass in the Bahai faith but I feel their intentions are good.
We decided to go a place called Haus Khaz that I had read lots of small galeries and shops near a garden and lake. Getting around Dehli tuned out to be difficult because Uber was banned a week before as well as other ride possibilities so we had to take a tuc tuc. There were no taxis because Uber killed the taxis and now Uber was gone too so we took Tuc tuc. The sense of risk is different in India and it was a real wild ride. Anyhow we got to the park and there were huge bats hanging from the trees on an island in the lake that made screeching noises. We had some tea in the tea room (masala chai) and a piece of cake, I haven’t had any problems with the food except that it is spivey. I haven’t taken any chances though like eating salad or drinking anything but bottled water even to brush my teeth.
